Zenkai (in person and online)

About: A half-day Zenkai  (meditation retreat) will be held this Saturday and all are welcome. A Teisho (talk on a Zen Koan) will be given by teacher Richard Herps.

Venues: 1) St John Bosco Church in Kenilworth Queensland for those on the Sunshine Coast and 2) St Paul’s East Brisbane Church Hall 554 Vulture Street for those in Brisbane. The event will also broadcast online. The online link is:

Cost: $15.00 for the half day in person and by donation online. Beginners are most welcome. Please email sunmountainzen@gmail.com if you would like a free introduction to zen meditation at or prior to the event.

Arrival: 8:30 a.m. for setup (in person) with a 9 a.m. start. The even will conclude at midday followed by BYO shared lunch for those who wish.

Advance notice of annual Sesshin:

15-20th of September

Sesshin (lit. to touch the heart-mind) is a meditation retreat with intensive sitting, a daily Teisho (Zen talk) and opportunity for interview with a teacher.

A wonderful three-day Mini-Sesshin was held at Clouds Mapleton in May (participants pictured below) and we are looking forward to hosting a five-day retreat in September.

It is a beautiful venue in the rainforest hinterland of the Sunshine Coast and we have negotiated very affordable accomodation. Numbers will be limited, so don’t miss out on this opportunity to participate.
