Editor’s Introduction:
In this edition of Mat Chat we are privileged to have two exceptional articles of great significance to SMZ
namely:
– an article by Cecilie Lander Roshi and Mervyn Lander Roshi which both illustrates and details the 20 year
history of SMZ and the way it has expanded and consolidated over that period of time, in which all of us
have shared to some extent, and
– an article by Richard Warner, teacher, who recently visited various parts of the United States, but has
given particular attention to his visit to Upaya Zen Centre in New Mexico.
I commend both to your reading and extend sincere thanks to both contributors for the effort and
enthusiasm expended in putting the articles together.
