October Sesshin Announcement
(11th – 14th October 2025)
All are welcome to attend our October Sesshin, being held between 11th and 14th of October 2025 in Kenilworth Qld and online.
About Sesshin:
Sesshin (literally ‘touching the heart-mind’) is our annual multi-day retreat and highlight of our event calendar. All students of Sun Mountain Zen are invited to participate.
The venue this year in in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland town of Kenilworth. Non-students may participate depending on meditation experience. Please consult with a teacher before applying.
This event is a shorter three-day form Sesshin (due to the availability of accommodation), but we will make it a consolidated time of teaching and practice, so that we can together ‘touch the heart’ of Zen.
Schedule Outline:

Arrive 9:a.m. Saturday 11th October

Sitting beginning 9:30 a.m. – midday (optional with BYO lunch).

1:00-4:30 settle into accommodation (in silence).

5:00 p.m. Saturday, formal start of Sesshin.

Sesshin concludes Tuesday morning 14th October after closing ceremony and brunch

Cost:

Venue and Accomodation:
Venue is Kenilworth Hall and accomodation will be in a large rented house about 5 minutes drive away.
Bring:
Loose fitting warm clothing that is neutral in colour and that can be layered such as cardigans or jumpers. Please bring a shawl or blanket. Meditation mats, cushions, stools and chairs will be provided. Bring your own toiletries and medicines, further details will be mailed to you.

Please contact sunmountainzen@gmail.com indicating whether attending in-person or online and what times and days if attending in-person as well as any dietary needs.
Cancellation:
Sesshin requires a minimum number of participants to proceed. It may be postponed or cancelled if insufficient registrants at time of due-date. In this unlikely event, all registrants will be advised and offered full-refund.If you are at all unwell or have gastrointestinal or respiratory symptoms, we request you do not attend so as to avoid passing on illness to others. In such an event, a full refund will be offered and you can participate online
